Rolled Omelette Explained

What exactly is a Rolled Omelette?

Not so long ago, I’ve searched the term in Google. It gave me many results, including contents with egg rolls and rolled omelettes together in a title.

You might not care about the names of the food you ate in the past, but if you start to be interested in cooking them for yourself, I’m sure that you’ll turn to a browser online to look for their ingredients and procedures.

And if it’s your first to cook the Dish, you need to know which is which.

Egg rolls and rolled omelettes have their differences.

You do not call something with the name based on how you cook that something.

Although you can merely name a dish based on its ingredients or its procedure, like the not so obvious Stir-fry Broccoli and Carrots with Beef, it’s different with the case of egg rolls and rolled omelettes.

Don’t confuse yourself. These dishes are different from each other, especially the procedures on making each of them.

Egg rolls are usually prepared and cooked like their close relative Spring Roll, fried in hot oil if not deep-fried.

To finally clear the air, rolled omelette, as its name implies, is cooked slower in a thin coat of oil in a pan by folding and rolling the omelette until you make the desired serving size for it.

Rolled omelettes are good to have any time of the day.

But most people would prefer to have it on breakfasts. It makes sense since it’s packed with nutrients to help you start the day right.

Enjoy the Dish with equally hearty rice accompaniments that we also have in store for you.

How to Make a Rolled Omelette

  1. Preparing the Rolled Omelette Mixture
    • Combine all the ingredients.
    • Beat the mixture properly with an egg beater or a simple fork.
  2. Let's Start Cooking the Rolled Omelette

If you don't have that special non-stick frypan specifically used to make a rolled omelette, I suggest using a relatively large flat frying pan instead.

    • Heat the pan, then adjust the flame to a low flame.
    • Pour a small amount of oil covering most of the cooking areas. For your convenience, you can use those cooking spray oils available in the market.
    • Pour some of the mixtures into the pan, making sure you cover most of the cooking areas but as thin as possible.
    • With a cooking spatula, gradually fold the omelette starting from the edge until you've rolled enough, leaving at least 1 ½ to 2 inches unrolled, where you'll connect the next you're about to pour.
    • Adjust the rolled omelette in the pan to give way for some more of the mixture.
    • Repeat the process above until you've rolled 1 ½ to 2 inches thick of the rolled omelette.
You can make two rolled omelettes with these ingredients.
