Instructions
How to Cook Adobong Puso ng Saging with Dilis
-
Initial Prep for the Puso ng Saging (Banana Blossoms)
First, we have to properly clean the Puso ng Saging before cooking it.
- Peel off the dark layers of its skins, usually up to 2nd to 3rd layers.
- At every layer of skin, notice those banana flowers. Each piece will have a stiff stem in it; remove one by one and throw them away since they are inedible because of their hardness.
- Nearing the inner core, cut the Puso ng Saging into wedges.
- Now, prepare a saucepan with enough water to boil the Banana Blossoms.
- Boil for 30 minutes.
- After the said time frame, turn off the stove, remove the Puso ng Saging from the water, drain and let it cool for a bit.
- Slice to even smaller pieces.
-
Initial Prep for the Dilis (Dried Anchovies)
Heat a small frying pan. (No oil)
- Slightly roast (Busa) the Dilis. Do not overdo.
-
Cooking all Ingredients
Heat the saucepan and pour in the Canola Oil.
- Saute aromatics accordingly: garlic to a golden brown and onion until translucent.
- Bring in the sliced Puso ng Saging, stir, then simmer for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Pour in the liquid ingredients (Soy Sauce and Vinegar), then simmer for another 3 to 5 minutes.
- Put the roasted Anchovies we’ve prepared before. Simmer for 2 minutes.
- Add some salt if needed.
- Our Adobong Puso ng Saging with Dilis is now ready.
